**This article contains spoilers from the series finale of *Tell Me Lies*, "Are You Happy Now, That I'm on My Knees?"**

At the end of* Tell Me Lies*, Stephen (Jackson White) and Lucy (Grace Van Patten) definitely didn't get a happy ending as he quite literally left her on the side of the road. But that doesn't mean that every couple on the show is doomed.

For starters, Diana (Alicia Crowder) and Pippa (Sonia Mena) remain together and happy. Evan (Branden Cook) and Bree (Catherine Missal)? Not so much. But what about Bree and ... Wrigley (Spencer House)?

Moments after Stephen reveals everyone's secrets in the series finale, as Evan screams at Wrigley for sleeping with his now-wife, Bree and Wrigley can be seen exchanging a smile amongst the chaos.

"I love that little smile between them," showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer tells **. "In my mind, it's unlikely that this group stays friends. I don't think these people are gonna hang out together again. But I do think that that smile shows this moment between Bree and Wrigley of, 'Well what the f---? We might as well give this a real shot because all of these other excuses have literally blown up in our faces.' They're meant to be together, I think. I want to imagine that they have a happy ending, and I think for sure Pippa and Diana have a happy ending."

Oppenheimer remembers entering the writers' room for season 3 and announcing that Bree and Wrigley would be a thing. "I was like, 'This is what's gonna happen. These two are gonna be endgame.'" And she has no regrets. "I cried so much this season just editing Bree and Wrigley scenes," Oppenheimer says. "We all needed it because it was the most romantic storyline we've ever done. It felt like they both needed it. Both of those characters needed someone to meet them on their level and their chemistry was so good."

One key moment that had to happen for Bree and Wrigley to be end game? Evan getting Bree's mom drunk and lying about it.

"When we were editing episode 7, I was texting Branden and I was like, 'You are a full villain.' And when you get to that wedding scene, when Evan's life is falling apart, it's very easy to feel terrible for him. But we kept having to remind ourselves that he destroyed Bree's relationship with her mom. I remember Spencer saying it in the moment, he was like, 'This would be so horrible and tragic if episode 7 hadn't happened."

But everything happens for a reason — and in *Tell Me Lies*, the reason is usually so that someone can use it as blackmail later.
