Sweet niblets! Miley Cyrus is ready to embrace the best of both worlds. The Something Beautiful singer announced on Tuesday that she’d be returning to her Disney Channel beginnings with the upcoming Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, out March 24.
In an Instagram reel shared to Cyrus’s account, a Ford Mustang with a bedazzled purple license plate reading “HM 20” rolls up to a soundstage in Los Angeles as the pop star’s famed track “Best of Both Worlds” plays in the background. The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special will debut on Disney+ on March 24.
Cyrus portrayed the titular double-life-leading pop star for four seasons, from 2006 to 2011. The series followed Cyrus as Miley Stewart, a seemingly normal teen by day and a mega pop star by night, who struggles to cope with the complexities of growing up while navigating her famous alter ego. Hannah Montana spawned the concert film Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert in 2008 and the feature film Hannah Montana: The Movie in 2011.
“Going back to where it all began. 🖤,” read the caption of the Instagram reel. “The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special premieres March 24 on Disney+. #MileysMemories”

According to a Disney+ press release, the special will be filmed in front of a live studio audience and will feature an in-depth interview between Cyrus and Call Her Daddy podcaster Alex Cooper. In addition to showing “never-before-seen archival footage” and bringing back to life some of the most memorable Hannah Montana sets, Cyrus will also “revisit the moments, music and memories that defined an era.”
‘“Hannah Montana’ will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection,” Cyrus said in a statement. “The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”
The “End of the World” hitmaker hasn’t shied away from honoring her onscreen alter ego. Cyrus’s 20th anniversary announcement comes less than a week after she shared a throwback photo of herself dressed as Hannah Montana, alongside the caption, “Going through the archives… so many memories 💖 xoMC.”

In an Instagram post from earlier this month, Cyrus also shared a split image of herself at this year’s Grammy Awards, wearing sunglasses, and as Hannah Montana back in the day, also wearing sunglasses. Cyrus remained mum about Hannah Montana anniversary plans in an interview with Variety last month, but teased, “You see the bangs.”
The 33-year-old singer knew she wanted to celebrate the milestone “Hannahversary,” as she likes to call it. Last July, on SiriusXM, she said she wanted to design “something really, really special” for the occasion.
“Without Hannah, there really wouldn’t be this me,” she said. “It’s so crazy to think too that I started as a character that I thought was gonna be impossible to shed, and … when I walk into a space, it’s looked at as this sense of nostalgia or something that you have from your childhood. But now I’ve been as integrated into everyone’s life as the character itself.”
