Is Amon-Ra St. Brown playing today? Latest injury updates on Lions WR

The Detroit Lions are getting ready to make a last-ditch playoff push. Will they have their top receiver available on Christmas?

Amon-Ra St. Brown is dealing with a knee injury that has left him "questionable" for the Lions' short-week tilt with the Minnesota Vikings.

St. Brown leads the Lions in targets (144), receptions (98), receiving yards (1,194) and receiving touchdowns (11) and was just named to his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl. If without him, Detroit would need other playmakers to step up against a Minnesota defense that has allowed just 13 points per game over its three-game winning streak.

Here's what to know about St. Brown's status for the Lions' Christmas game against the Vikings.

Is Amon-Ra St. Brown playing today?

The Lions have not yet announced whether St. Brown will play in the team's Christmas game against the Vikings. The 26-year-old receiver is officially listed as "questionable" for the contest because of a knee injury.

The good news for Lions fans? NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reports St. Brown "seems to be in a good position to play" in the Thursday afternoon game.

The Lions will have until 3 p.m. ET – 90 minutes before their game against the Vikings kicks off – to determine St. Brown's status for the contest.

Amon-Ra St. Brown injury update

St. Brown suffered a knee injury in the Lions' Week 16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played 72 of 74 offensive snaps during the contest but was listed on the injury report Monday because of the malady.

St. Brown was a non-participant in Detroit's Monday practice estimation. He was upgraded to limited at Tuesday's walk-through, at which point Lions coach Dan Campbell seemed encouraged by St. Brown's progress.

"It’s positive news, but he’s a little irritated," Campbell told reporters of St. Brown's injury at a Tuesday news conference. "There’s a little irritation, so short week, we’ll see. But I would say it’s still positive news."

St. Brown remained a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, but the Lions officially listed him as "questionable" for Thursday's game.

St. Brown hasn't yet missed a start for the Lions during the 2025 NFL season. The lone game in which he failed to play at least 77% of the team's offensive snaps came in Week 13, when he suffered an ankle injury after playing just four snaps on Thanksgiving against the Green Bay Packers.

St. Brown was able to return from that ankle injury just a week later. He logged six catches for 92 yards during his team's "Thursday Night Football" win over the Dallas Cowboys.

St. Brown didn't appear on the Lions' injury report in either Week 15 or 16 before popping up on it again ahead of Detroit's Christmas Day game against Minnesota.

Lions WR depth chart

The Lions have six receivers on their depth chart, including St. Brown. Below is a look at the pecking order within the unit:

Amon-Ra St. Brown

Jameson Williams

Isaac TeSlaa

Kalif Raymond

Tom Kennedy

Dominic Lovett

If St. Brown can't play, Williams would serve as the team's No. 1 receiver, while TeSlaa and Raymond would see an uptick in action. Lovett, who hasn't dressed since Week 14, would likely be active in his place, unless the Lions call up either Jackson Meeks or Malik Cunningham from the practice squad to play ahead of him.

If St. Brown does play, he and Williams will get a bulk of the targets in Detroit's passing game. Meanwhile, TeSlaa will be utilized more as a red-zone weapon and Raymond as a quality change-of-pace option.
