Clay Aiken's son just celebrated a major milestone.
On Monday, April 27, the American Idol alum, 47, shared a picture on his Instagram Stories of his 17-year-old son, Parker, on his way to his senior prom. In the snap, the teen smiled in a black suit with a yellow tie as he stood next to his prom date, who coordinated in a bright yellow dress.
"Baby's first prom night," the doting dad wrote underneath the picture, adding Donna Lewis' song "I Love You Always Forever" to the post.

The American Idol runner-up and his best friend, music producer Jaymes Foster, welcomed Parker in August 2008. Though Aiken and Foster were not romantically linked, they made plans to raise their son together, and she became pregnant through in vitro fertilization.
After welcoming his son, the “Invisible” singer publicly came out as gay in a cover story for PEOPLE in September 2008. “It was the first decision I made as a father," he explained. "I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things. I wasn’t raised that way, and I’m not going to raise a child to do that.”
Aiken said that he and Foster would raise their son in an environment that was “accepting and allowing him to be happy.” He added, "No matter what the situation you’re in, if you’re raised in a loving environment, that’s the most important thing.”
While Aiken found his path in the entertainment industry, his son will not be following in his footsteps. Exclusively speaking with PEOPLE ahead of the re-release of his debut single "Measure of a Man (Father's Day Version)," Aiken revealed for the first time that Parker is training to become a pilot.

“He’s known what he wants to do for, gosh, his whole life,” the American Idol finalist told PEOPLE back in June 2025. “It was a little weird to me because I didn’t know what I wanted to do — I still don’t.”

Aiken added that Parker has “never changed his mind” on his future career path and has taken some impressive steps toward officially becoming a licensed pilot.
“He just went and did his first solo flight two weeks ago, so a big milestone there,” the proud dad shared. “Now we’re planning on the next one, which I’ll need even more Xanax for.”
The “Invisible” singer notes that while his son’s first solo flight involved doing taking laps around the airport, the next one will involve him flying across the state solo.
“I’m not going to be able to see the plane,” Aiken explained. “You’re gonna have to sedate me. Just call an anesthesiologist because I don’t have the nerves for that."
