Live from New York, it’s Anitta! On April 11, the singer-songwriter made her Saturday Night Live debut, acting as musical guest while actor Colman Domingo hosted, where she made history as the first Brazilian artist to ever perform on the show.

In between the sketches, Anitta sang two songs from her forthcoming album Equilibrium (out April 16), including “Varias Quejas” and her new collaboration with Shakira, “Choka Choka.”

While performing the latter, our former Harper’s Bazaar cover star wore a form-fitting brown athleisure set, consisting of biker shorts, girdle-style tights, and a wrap top, over which bungee-like cords criss-crossed over her chest.

Then, for her second number, the Grammy nominee switched into a pastel ombré dress from PatBo. The strappy, scoop-neck design was composed of a ricamare tulle, and defined by tiers of beaded fringe, which morphed from a deep purple up top into a neon fuchsia around the bottom.

Along the bodice, scalloped patterns of sequins laid across Anitta’s torso like petals, while two beaded strands in a matching purple draped around her. Finally, she completed the look with tan sandal heels and golden arm cuffs.

Both of these looks were styled by her frequent fashion partner, André Philipe.

Following her historic performance, Anitta commemorated the moment on Instagram, writing: “I have no words to describe how happy and fulfilled I feel. This album—and the message it carries—has woven itself deep into my soul, feeling like the greatest blessing of my life. Finding balance is more than just possible; it is wonderful. It is an honor to have had the opportunity to be the first Brazilian artist on the biggest show in the United States—a program that has been on the air for over 50 years.”

She continued: “The best part was being able to share this experience alongside such luminous artists who, beyond being incredibly talented, are truly special friends. I am deeply grateful to this wonderful team and to my exceptional fans. I feel so worthy of this—oh God, thank you so much. So happy! 🥰❤️ 3 days left until EQUILIBRIVM.”
